Staying Hydrated While Running: Essential Tips for Every Runner

Water will always be the best liquid for your run but for a more strenuous run you should consider a sports drink. These will help you replenish your electrolytes that you lose when you sweat on your run.

Tips for Runners:

  1. Pre-Run Hydration: Start your run well-hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day leading up to your run.
  2. Carry Water: For longer runs, carry water with you.
  3. Drink Regularly: Set a timer to remind yourself to take small sips every 15-20 minutes.
  4. Monitor Your Body: Recognize when you are feeling dehydrated. Signs could be dizziness, dry mouth, or fatigue. If you feel any of these, stop running and drink water.
  5. Post Run- Rehydration: After your run, drink water or a sports drink to replace fluids.
